In its fourth episode, the 90 Second Music Show is hosted by music industry executive, Scott Austin, the CEO of Authentik Artists. The latest episode features an exclusive video interview with recording artist Josh Kelley. Josh Kelley released his indie album, Changing Faces, in 2001, and signed with Hollywood Records in 2002. He had a subsequent radio hit with his song “Amazing”, produced by Dave Matthews Band producer John Alagia.

It is interesting to discover how many artists gain success aggressive online campaigns that targeted record execs and fans.

Previous guests of the 90 Second Music Show include Marie Digby, a singer-songwriter who rose from obscurity to Internet sensation with her music videos on YouTube, receiving over 5 million views for her cover of Rihanna’s hit “Umbrella”; Producer and Writer, Zac Maloy (Bowling for Soup as well as Chris Daughtry); and Mark Needham, a mix engineer who has played a role in records by acts such as The Killers, Fleetwood Mac, Chris Isaak, Cake and others that have collectively sold tens of millions of copies worldwide.

We did everything from biking through the Costa Rican countryside to the Pacific ocean where we then boarded an outrigger canoe and paddled to a secluded beach. Another day we ziplined through the rainforest canopy. We also went to Caño Island, one of the best snorkeling/diving spots in the world. There was hiking and biking through tropical subalpine forests and meadows and the trip was topped off with rafting down the Class III-IV Pacuare River.

I had a fabulous vacation. The ziplining was an exhilarating and fun experience. I was a little scared at first but the guys in charge were real pros and had me zipping through the rainforest canopy in no time. If you ever get down to Jaco Beach, Costa Rica, don’t miss the Waterfalls Canopy tour.

Although all the hotel accomodations were great, my favorite was the Cristal Ballena hotel at Playa Ballena. Every room offers a breathtaking ocean view. The service was excellent too. On our boat ride to Cano Island, we had a school of dolphins racing along with our boat playfully in the ocean.

The real highlight of the trip was the Pacuare White Water river  rafting (level 3 – 4). What a blast! The river canyon is gorgeous, the river guide was one of the best in the world, and experiencing this beautiful wilderness was breathtaking.

I can’t say enough fabulous things about my trip to Costa Rica with Costa Rica Expeditions. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, organized, and friendly. The whole experience was unforgettable and I can’t wait to go back!

Driving the streets is always an adventure. More often than not, there is some person in back of me just itching to get ahead. So the person quickly scoots into the right lane, puts the pedal to metal, and speeds up ahead of me, only to beat me by a second or two to the red light!

I get a good laugh at this “race to the red light” up ahead. Why put pedal to the metal when we can all see the light is turned red up ahead? Some people are so competitive!

My next favorite southern California driving adventure is on the freeways. Insane, I tell you! Don’t bother getting on the freeway during certain hours because you will certainly sit in traffic for hours. Where else can you find a six-lane highway that looks like a packed parking lot?

But back to my real rant. Here is a typical scene on the freeway (when it’s not so crowded): I put my right blinker on to switch lanes. The car in the right lane is more than one car length behind so I have plenty of room to move over. So what do you think the brainiac does? Speeds up to get ahead of me!

It’s maddening I tell you! And the parking lots in the shopping centers…well, all I can say is be careful!

Why do we love southern California? Not for the insane traffic, and certainly not for the crazy driving. We love it for the beautiful weather, the ocean breeze, and the view of the snow capped mountains from the ocean.

Martin Luther King, Jr., a Baptist minister, was a driving force in the push for racial equality in the 1950’s and the 1960’s. Thrust into the national spotlight in Birmingham, where he was arrested and jailed, King organized a massive march on Washington, DC, on August 28, 1963. On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, he evoked the name of Lincoln in his “I Have a Dream” speech, which is credited with mobilizing supporters of desegregation and prompted the 1964 Civil Rights Act. The next year, King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
